Vintage finds with a story.

Welcome to Retro Genie, an independent UK business specialising in vintage hi-fi, retro technology, sewing machines, furniture and unusual collectables.

How It All Started

Retro Genie began back in 2012, with a small collection of items stored in my parents' loft.

What started as a way of buying and selling interesting second-hand finds gradually developed into something much bigger.

Over the years, my passion for discovering forgotten treasures, learning about vintage equipment and giving old items a new home has helped turn Retro Genie into a full-time business.

Today, I operate from dedicated storage and workspace facilities in Southampton, Hampshire, sourcing, testing, photographing and preparing items for customers across the UK.

A Passion for Vintage

I've always enjoyed finding things that are a little different.

From classic hi-fi equipment and vintage electronics to sewing machines, retro toys, clocks, lighting and furniture, you never quite know what will turn up next.

Many of the items I sell come from car boot sales, auctions, house clearances and private collections.

Some are everyday objects from years gone by, while others are unusual pieces that deserve to be appreciated again.

For me, that's one of the best parts of running Retro Genie — every item has its own history.

Carefully Sourced, Honestly Described

Buying vintage and second-hand items is different from buying something brand new.

Every piece has its own character, and many will show signs of age, use and previous ownership.

I take pride in photographing items carefully, describing their condition honestly and testing electrical equipment wherever possible.

If something has a fault, missing part or cosmetic damage, I aim to make that clear in the listing.

My goal is simple: to help customers know exactly what they're buying.

An Independent Business

Retro Genie isn't a large warehouse retailer or a faceless online company.

It's an independent business built through years of hard work, early mornings at car boot sales, countless hours testing equipment and a genuine enthusiasm for vintage items.

Every purchase helps support the continued growth of Retro Genie and allows me to keep finding interesting stock for the shop.
